Between now (the briefing date) and the next session (Tues 16th April) you are to produce an image in response to the assignment title, an image of one of life’s alternative characters; the
title to the brief should sum-up up what you are looking for.
For group tutorial you are to present a print of your final image, no smaller than A5, no larger than A4.'
Our first brief was handed out just before the Easter break, the idea being we have three weeks to complete it. I however am not in the country for the first two weeks and am not taking my camera with me so will have to use these two weeks for planning.

Punk the essence of Anarchy
Urban Dictionarys definition of punk.
A) Music movement started in the 70's with multiple reasons and causes. There was an Americn and British Punk movement. Proto-punk bands such as Iggy Pop and the Stooges, the Motor City 5, and the Velvet Underground were influential in setting the stage for taking the risks bands like The Ramones, The Dictators, The New York Dolls, and Blondie did.

The British movement supposedly was started by one of the following: The ecnomic disaster that occured in the mid seventies, and the youth's lack of patience with the british government. A movement made out of boredom by Johnny Rotten, lead singer of the Sex Pistols.

This Movement caused the creation for most genres of music today, it's even represented in the roots of such types as hip hop, rap, pop, modern rock, goth, electro, two-tone. It did not create these genres, but it certainly kicked down the door for them.

B) Culture started in the 70's by the same music movement. The point of the culture was like the music, be yourself and disregard the angry emotions it may stir up. No longer a real culture, only a burned image with the values behind it lost, you can see it in stores such as Hot Topic. People No longer understand it was always about being yourself and not being anyone's shadow.

C) Modern Movement, characterized by some bands that have actually kept the movement alive, some by giving off the image, and pop-punk bands that are, regardless of what people want to say, in way of the Ramones and even the Misfits. Pop Punk is a very melodic form of punk, it's not " pop" because it's popular, it's pop because of the style of playing. Bands that try to sell an image alone with no true love for the music are the ones made fun of the most, with little or no time together before being popularized by mainstream tv. These are the same bands that promote a pre-made image that's ready to sell to a pre-teen to early adult demographic. For the most part it works, and this entire culture has been reffered to as " Mallcore" or " mallxcore," because these are the same people that have never heard of the Ramones or Sex Pistols but think they're punk because they shop at hot topic and listen to MTV's Flavor of the week " band." feel free to laugh at these people, most people who know what the music is about do.

The Current culture is in a sad state because it's focused on replicating the 70's instead of being itself. There are a few who understand it and refuse to subscribe to the image mold.

Current Afairs
On the 8th of april 2013 The Iron lady ( Margret Thatcher) has passed away. Margret Thatcher was responsible for splitting the country some loved her and some hated her ( a bit like marmite). Talking about the punk Revelation above i cant help but think this is totally relevant to this brief. Margret Thatcher was said to cause anarchy is life and even now after death. Half the country is in morning and the other half celebrating what they think good riddance. There were street party's in celebration and if that isn't Anarchy i dint know what is. The anarchists have been as equally spread over the news/ print as the sad news of the death of the British server.
Not everyone was praising Margaret Thatcher yesterday. Photo: CARL COURT/AFP/Getty Images

BBC caught up in musical protest
I find this image interesting. I have taken this from a news website called leaderpost.com. Photographer Peter Morrison. The message this graffiti is interesting and could be read two different ways. Is Iron lady Rust in piece just a clever play on works actually saying rest in piece in a positive way or is it a anarchist celebration relating to Maggie rusting in hell ?

Printed Portraits found in an National Newspaper
The daily telegraph to be exsact. I have just selected a few portraits i found interesting to take inspiration of for this breif .

My idea for my anarchist portrait shoot
I set out with my camera round the streets of Manchester to find the perfect face for my image. I was looking for a heavily prominent punk the do a simple portrait of and ask them there opinion on Maggie Thatcher’s death. Absolutely no one fitted the image I had in my head so it was time for a re-think.
I know the anarchist created DIY protest signs when celebrating Maggie Thatcher’s death and this graffiti style protest really interested me.  Punk the punk movement was all do it yourself and slightly rough around the edges. I have decided to create my own sanario of the Thatcher riots by creating a rough cartoon portrait drawing of Thatcher in the style of a protest sign and photographing it so it could fit easily into editorial that current now. I will be using and female punked up model but avoid her face so that the cartoon portrait of Thatcher is highlighted. I have to add that I am doing this to fit current topic that are being used in editorial now and these are not a reflection of my political views. I believe that Thatcher has done wonders for today’s economical climate and that the death should be laid to rest peacefully without being slated. For after all it isn’t hurting Margret Thatcher just her family who are already moaning the loss of a family member.

Possible Edits
Here are a few possible edits that i could use for my final piece.I feel the shoot went well even though simply constructed and exercuted. Some times the more simple ideas the better.

Final Image
I have decided to use this image for my finished piece. Although simple i feel it is exected well and fits the breif correctly. This image could be used in a vase variety of printed or online Articals. I have taken inspiration from the nme magazine because they aim for an alterative audience that i feel this breif would also work with that audience. This piece i feel would fit well into current publications such as national and regonal newsprints.
